ABOUT THE ARTIST

Carlos Canul is an active participant and award-winning visual artist in Houston. His paintings and drawings have been showcased in local, regional, and international art exhibitions. Canul has been awarded a number of public art commissions in the North Texas area. He teaches at Houston Baptist University.

Rachel Gardner

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Rachel Gardner is a Houston-based mixed-media artist that specializes in sculpture and painting. She is best known for her life-size wolf sculptures. Her work has been shown in both museums and galleries, nationally and internationally. Locations of her shows and installations include Houston, Dallas, San Angelo, New York City, Germany, and Greece. She received her BFA from Stephen F. Austin State University and her MFA from Houston Baptist University. Gardner has devoted her art to the exploration of both the connection and disconnection to nature in our modern world. Though her primary medium is papier-mâché, she often combines her soft sculptures with found objects from nature. Her work is included in both public and private collections. She is an assistant professor of sculpture at Houston Baptist University.
